Bobby Barron founded his own band, the Swing Thing Band, to keep the best music of the golden age alive. From trio to 12 piece orchestra depending on the event, he assembles the best talent in Southern California. As lead vocalist for the band, Bobby sings American standards with a repertoire of over 500 songs. He specializes in the crooning swing-era classics of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin and songs of the great Hollywood musicals by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George & Ira Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, to name a few.
Also a jazz drummer, Bobby Barron plays all
types of music from rock, jazz, funk, and blues to swing. Playing with
jazz trios, small combos and large big bands, Bobby has performed in
every type of venue including festivals, concert halls, theaters,
nightclubs, corporate events and private parties for audiences large and
small. When collaborating with other vocalists notably legendary
blues singer, Barbara Morrison, and jazz singer, Ginger Pauley, Bobby
commands the drummer's seat in the band.
Dancing since age six, Bobby Barron is an accomplished tap
dancer and choreographer, experienced in a number of dance styles
including swing, waltz and ballroom. He has performed in dozens of stage
shows in regional theater and on tours as a song and dance man, most
notably as Fred Astaire, in the California Theatre’s production of “Fred
and Ginger”.
